Recently, the hydrogen fuel cell power demonstration ship "Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat No. 1" completed its maiden voyage in the Three Gorges Visitor Center (Nine Wharf) in Yichang, Hubei Province, which marks a breakthrough in the application of hydrogen fuel cell technology in inland vessels. It is estimated that compared with traditional oil-powered ships, the "Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat No. 1" is expected to replace 103.16 tons of fuel oil per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 343.67 tons.
"Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat No. 1" is a steel and aluminum composite structure, the total length of 49.9m, the width of 10.4 m, the depth of 3.2 m, hydrogen fuel cell rated output power of 500 KW, endurance of up to 200 km, Undertake the dam traffic, inspection and emergency work between the Three Gorges reservoir area and the Three Gorges Gezhou Dam.
"Three Gorges Hydrogen Boat No. 1" was jointly developed and built by the China Yangtze power co., Ltd of the China Three Gorges corporation, Wuhan Institute of Marine Electric Propulsion, THREE GORGES NAVIGATION AUTHORITY, the China Classification Society, CSDI, and Jianglong shipbuilding. It is the first hydrogen fuel cell-powered vessel certified by the China Classification Society.
The system adopts the classification society certified hydrogen storage cylinder and control system, the overall design meets the classification society’s requirements, the hydrogen storage capacity can reach 240Kg, provide hydrogen supply for 500kW fuel cells, and can complete the filling work within 4 hours, helping Chinese ships enter the hydrogen power era.
